A change in marital status can affect your benefits.

If you need to update your benefits coverage, you must do so within 30 days from the date you get married, execute a domestic partnership attestation, or get divorced. If you do not act within this time, you will not be able to make changes until the next Annual Enrollment or until you experience another Qualifying Life Event.

To update your coverage:

Log in to the bswift benefits portal and choose the appropriate life event on the left under “Life Event.”
Additional instructions on how to update your coverage can be found in the document library in the benefits portal.
- You must submit documentation of your life event before it is approved (marriage certificate, divorce decree, Domestic Partner Affidavit, Attestation of domestic partnership dissolution). The required domestic partner affidavits can be found in the document library in the benefits portal.
Coverage is effective on the day you complete your life event and supporting documentation.
