  • Accident insurance

You can’t plan for accidents, but you can protect yourself financially in the event of one. The Aetna Accident Plan can help cover expenses related to an injury caused by a covered accident.

    How accident insurance helps you:

You receive cash benefits if you or an eligible covered dependent is injured at home or at work, no matter what’s covered by your medical plan or other insurance. Cash benefits can pay for:

    • Deductibles

    • Coinsurance

    • Initial and follow-up care

    • Medical imaging and X-rays

    • Hospitalization and surgeries

    • Dislocations and fractures

    • Physical therapy

    • Ambulance trips and transportation expenses (e.g., cabs, Uber, etc.)

Benefits can also be used to cover everyday expenses like mortgage payments, childcare, or groceries. If you or a covered dependent is injured participating in an organized sport, you’re eligible for additional benefits. For information about specific coverage amounts, review the Aetna Accident Plan summary.

  • Critical illness insurance

Aetna Critical Illness Plan coverage can help you focus on your health and ease financial worries during a difficult time by helping to protect your finances by paying cash benefits when you’re diagnosed with a serious condition, such as heart attack, stroke, organ failure, cancer, and others.

How critical illness insurance helps you:

You can use the money to pay your deductible or everyday expenses like utility bills, mortgage payments, and groceries. Coverage also includes a preventive health screening benefit that pays you $50 just for receiving your annual health screening.

The face-value for critical illness insurance is $10,000, but what it actually pays is based on the illness/diagnosis. For information about specific diagnoses and coverage amounts, review the Aetna Critical Illness Plan summary.

    Critical illness insurance in action

You suffer a stroke. Because your critical illness insurance pays out 100% of the face-value of the policy for strokes, you would receive the full $10,000.

You are diagnosed with lupus. Because your critical illness insurance pays out 25% of the face-value of the policy for lupus diagnoses, you would receive $2,500.

Eligibility: Regular full-time and part-time Mountaineers actively working in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

  • Hospital indemnity plan

A voluntary hospital indemnity plan provides peace of mind in the event you or a covered family member is admitted to the hospital for reasons like illness, injury, or pregnancy.

How a hospital indemnity plan helps you:

The plan pays a lump sum if you or a covered dependent is hospitalized. The amount you receive varies based on the reason for and length of your visit. For information about specific coverage amounts, review the Aetna Hospital Indemnity Plan summary. You can use the money to pay for medical bills or to cover expenses not covered under your medical plan.

    Hospital indemnity plan in action
