Commuter Benefits
Commuter benefits
To ease the cost of your commute to work, we offer two tax-free commuter accounts: one for parking expenses, the other for transit expenses. These accounts let you set aside before-tax dollars from your pay to cover the cost for monthly parking and/or transit costs.
How the accounts work
You decide how much to contribute, and the money is deducted from your pay before taxes are taken out
You can contribute up to the IRS limit of $340/month for parking and $340/month for transit
Contributions are made 24 times a year (no contributions will be made from your 1/30 and 7/31 pay)
Use your WEX benefits card or log into your account to request reimbursement
You must enroll each year for your account balance to rollover over
You have 90-days from the date of termination to submit claims for reimbursement of expenses incurred through your termination date.
You can change your commuter contributions at any time during the year.
You forfeit any amounts left in your account after you separate from employment.
What’s covered?
Transit expenses: Passes, tokens, fare cards or vouchers for mass transportation, vanpooling for six or more adults using 80% of the vehicle’s mileage to go to and from work.
Parking expenses: Parking at or near your office or where you park to commute by train, vanpool or carpool.
