Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
The FSAs, managed through WEX, are tax-free savings account to use for eligible health expenses. Unlike the HSA, you must use the funds in the FSA by the end of the year – or lose it. You must enroll in the FSAs within your first 30 days from hire, or you will have to wait until the next Annual Enrollment period for coverage effective for the following year. You may change these elections during the year if you experience an eligible qualifying event.

FSA checklist
Submit your eligible 2024 FSA claims by March 31, 2025. Log into your WEX account. Don’t forget your supporting documentation!
Secure your 2024 rollover. If you want a rollover of your unused 2024 health care or limited purpose FSA amounts (up to $640), you must elect to contribute to the account in 2025.
Keep your receipts. If you do not provide the necessary documentation to substantiate your claims when asked, the IRS has the right to tax those amounts as income.
Commuter benefit
To ease the cost of your commute to work, we offer two tax-free commuter accounts: one for parking expenses, the other for transit expenses. These accounts let you set aside before-tax dollars from your pay to cover the cost for monthly parking and/or transit costs.
How the accounts work
You decide how much to contribute, and the money is deducted from your pay before taxes are taken out
You can contribute up to the IRS limit of $325/month for parking and $325/month for transit
Contributions are made from two pay periods per month (or 24 times per year)
Use your WEX benefits card or log into your account to request reimbursement
You must enroll each year for your account balance to rollover over
You have 90-days from the date of termination to submit claims for reimbursement of expenses incurred through your termination date.
You can change your commuter contributions at any time during the year.
You forfeit any amounts left in your account after you separate from employment.
What’s covered?
Transit expenses: Passes, tokens, fare cards or vouchers for mass transportation, vanpooling for six or more adults using 80% of the vehicle’s mileage to go to and from work.
Parking expenses: Parking at or near your office or where you park to commute by train, vanpool or carpool.
