Medicare Education and Support
Are you or your spouse/partner turning 65?
Medicare Part A coverage
You or a covered family member should enroll in Medicare Part A when you first become eligible. While you are an active employee, your Chubb medical plan will be the primary insurance and Medicare will be secondary. This means that your claims will first be processed under Chubb’s medical coverage, and any additional benefits available will be processed under Medicare.
Medicare Part B coverage
If you have Chubb medical coverage, you do not have to sign up for Medicare Part B when you are first eligible. As long as you have employer-sponsored health insurance, you may delay enrolling in Medicare Part B until that coverage ends or you stop working (whichever happens first) without paying a late Medicare enrollment penalty.
Medicare Part D prescription coverage
If you are enrolled in a Chubb medical plan and are also eligible for Medicare, you do not need to purchase Medicare Part D. Actuaries have confirmed that Chubb’s prescription coverage is at least as good as the standard Medicare Part D coverage, which means that you’re getting as good of a pharmacy benefit under Chubb’s medical plan as you would under Medicare.
