We provide leaves of absence for family needs. The type of leave available to you may vary depending on laws, your circumstances and other factors.

Maternity Leave
Offers new mothers eight weeks from the delivery for natural birth or cesarean birth.

Bereavement Leave
If you are a full-time teammate and a death occurs in your immediate family, you are eligible for paid bereavement leave of up to five days, per occurrence.
DICK’S Sporting Goods bereavement guidelines recognize the following relationships as covered immediate family members:
- Spouse or domestic partner
- Parents
- Biological, adopted, step, mother/father-in-law
- Child
- Biological, adopted, foster, step, son/daughter in-law
- Reproductive/Family-building loss
- Miscarriage, stillbirth, failed adoption, failed surrogacy and unsuccessful assisted reproduction (inclusive of artificial insemination, embryo transfer or gamete transfer)
- Sibling
- Biological, adopted, foster, step, son/daughter-in-law
- Grandparent
- Grandparent-in-law, great-grandparent, step-grandparent
- Grandchild
If you are a full-time teammate and a death occurs in your non-immediate family, you are eligible for paid bereavement leave of up to three days, per occurrence.
DICK’S Sporting Goods bereavement guidelines recognize the following relationships as covered non-immediate family members:
- Aunt/Uncle
- Niece/Nephew

Critical caregiver leave
Provides up to 10 days of time away from work to care for your immediate family member with a serious health condition. Review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to learn more.
Parental Leave
Provides eligible teammates with growing families the opportunity to have six weeks paid bonding time off work for the arrival of a new child. As a Company, we recognize the importance of this life event and want to give all new parents the flexibility to take time off without requiring the use of vacation.
Our Parental Leave Policy includes:
- Birth parent: Six weeks of paid parental leave, beginning on the date of the of the child's birth or placement (must be used within six months of the child's birth)
- Non-birth parent: Six weeks paid parental leave, beginning on the date of the of the child's birth or placement (must be used within six months of the child's birth)
- Parents who are adopting a child may begin leave when the child is placed in the teammate’s care

Unpaid Leaves
We also offer unpaid leaves for teammates including:
Unpaid medical leave for teammates who are not eligible for short-term disability (STD) and are under a doctor’s care
Unpaid personal leave for non-medical reasons up to six weeks
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) offers up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave in a 12-month period (eligibility must be satisfied). Information will be sent to you from Lincoln Financial regarding your rights and responsibilities under FMLA. FMLA runs concurrently with short-term disability and Workers' Compensation.

DO YOU WORK IN CALIFORNIA, COLORADO, CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, MAINE, MASSACHUSETTS, MINNESOTA, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OREGON, RHODE ISLAND OR WASHINGTON?
Teammates working in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Oregon or Washington are required to file for Temporary Disability Income through their respective state. Teammates working in Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey or New York will receive their state disability payments from Lincoln Financial.
