Who, How and When to Enroll

Who, How and When to Enroll

Benefits Eligibility

All regular salaried and full-time hourly teammates are eligible for benefits after 30 days of continuous full-time service. You must enroll within 31 days of becoming eligible or wait until the next Benefits Annual Enrollment period unless you have a qualifying life event.

You can also cover eligible dependents in various plans. Explore the sections below to see who you can cover, and more on how and when to enroll.

  • Covering dependents

Medical, prescription drug, dental, vision and dependent life.

    Eligible dependents include:

    • Your legal spouse for federal income tax purposes

    • Your same- or opposite-sex domestic partner

    • Children to age 26, including stepchildren, children of your domestic partner (if you are covering your domestic partner), adopted children and children legally with you awaiting adoption

    • Children over age 26 who are not able to support themselves due to a physical or mental disability

If both you and your spouse or domestic partner are eligible teammates, your children can be enrolled as dependents under only one plan. Your domestic partner’s children can be enrolled only under his/her dependent life insurance plan. And neither of you can be covered under each other’s dependent life plan since you are both already covered by the basic life plan.

  • Submitting expenses for dependents

Unlike other benefits, you don’t cover dependents under the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), but you can use the accounts to pay for eligible expenses for eligible dependents.

Eligible dependents for the spending accounts (FSA, HRA and HSA) include your:

    • Legal spouse for federal income tax purposes

    • Children you can and do claim on your federal income tax return

    • Parents and spouse’s parents, if you can and do claim them as dependents on your federal income tax return

Eligible dependents for the Dependent Daycare FSA include your:

    • Dependent children under age 13 when the care is provided and who you can claim on your federal income tax return

    • Spouse who is physically or mentally not able to care for him/herself

    • Dependent who is physically or mentally not able to care for him/herself and who you can claim as an exemption on your federal income tax return

You cannot use the FSAs to reimburse expenses for your domestic partner or their children.

  • Eligible? Here’s how and when to enroll

You can enroll from work or from home. You must enroll within 31 days of becoming eligible for benefits, or wait until the next Benefits Annual Enrollment period, unless you have a qualifying life event.
