Eligibility
Eligibility
For certain plans (medical, dental, vision, healthcare flexible spending account, and EAP), you and your covered dependents may qualify to continue coverage under COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act). If you are eligible, a COBRA information packet will be sent to your home address within two weeks after your termination date. The COBRA packet will contain information regarding the benefit plans and associated costs that you and your covered dependents may be eligible to continue under COBRA.
The COBRA coverage period may be extended if you become disabled while you are enrolled in COBRA. If you are eligible, you will receive COBRA information in the mail from bswift.
If you leave Chubb or have another qualifying life event, COBRA gives you the ability to continue group health benefits provided by Chubb for up to 18 months. Qualifying circumstances may include voluntary or involuntary job loss, reduction in the hours worked, transition between jobs, death, divorce, a dependent aging out and other life events.

Termination with Severance and COBRA
If you are involuntarily terminated from Chubb (i.e., due to job elimination) and are offered severance, you may elect to receive that severance in a lump sum or on a bi-weekly basis. If you elect bi-weekly severance payments, you will receive subsidized COBRA premiums for the length of your severance payment. For example, you are receiving 6 weeks of severance. If you elect bi-weekly severance payments, you will receive 6 weeks of subsidized COBRA premiums. After your subsidy period ends, you will be billed for the full cost of COBRA at unsubsidized group rates, plus a 2% administration fee. Please refer to the Unsubsidized COBRA rate sheet for the rate after your subsidy period ends.
Dependent Care and Health Care FSA Accounts
You must submit proof of Dependent Care and Health Care eligible expenses within 90 days of your termination. If you do not submit expenses by this date, you will forfeit any funds remaining in the Dependent Care and Health Care flexible spending account(s).
Your premium payments are due on the first day of each month. You must pay your first month’s premium for COBRA coverage to be reinstated. For more payment information, including how to set up automatic ACH payments to deduct your monthly premium from your bank account, visit the Chubb benefits and billing portal at https://chubb.bswift.com.
