EMERGENCY SAVINGS AND TEAMMATE RELIEF FUND
Build an Emergency Savings
Introducing the Vanguard Cash Plus Account—a powerful savings tool designed to help jump-start savings and prepare for any emergency.
The Vanguard Cash Plus Account offers a convenient and effective way to build a safety net for yourself and your family, without having to dip into your retirement savings. Plus, there are no caps on how much you can save in this account.
Here are the highlights of the Vanguard Cash Plus Account:
Competitive Annual Yield: The account offers a competitive annual yield on short-term savings, though the rate can vary and change at any time. Vanguard is committed to offering value on your short-term cash.
No Minimum Balance Requirement: You can save a little or a lot, as there's no minimum balance required to open or maintain the account. Keep in mind that some account fees may apply.
Holistic View of Cash and Investments: You can simplify your finances with one consolidated dashboard to easily manage your cash and investments all in one place.
Ability to Pay Bills and Make Payments: Use the available balance in your bank sweep to conveniently pay bills and make payments with apps like PayPal and Venmo.
Direct Deposit: Each account receives a routing and account number, allowing you to set up direct deposit with your employer.
FDIC Coverage: The Vanguard Cash Plus bank sweep is eligible for FDIC coverage of up to $1.25 million for individual accounts and $2.5 million for joint accounts. This enhanced coverage is achieved by aggregating deposits and distributing them across a custom network of program banks.
Five Vanguard Money Market Funds Available: For additional options, you can diversify your money into five available Vanguard money market funds, each with a $3,000 minimum investment. Money market funds are designed to be a safe, stable investment option for money you'll need in the near future by investing in low-risk, short-term debt securities. They can help you earn interest on your savings while potentially reducing market risk. However, keep in mind that you could lose money by investing in a money market fund, and they are not insured or guaranteed by the FDIC.
Opening an account is easy through the emergency savings guide within the My Financial Wellbeing hub.
First, log in to Vanguard, then navigate to the My Financial Wellbeing hub. Once established, you can view and manage your retirement accounts alongside your cash and investments through a consolidated dashboard.
All teammates 18 and older that have been with the company at least 30 days are eligible. Teammates must be registered with Vanguard, but participation in the 401(k) is not required.
