Telemedicine with Teladoc

Waters recognizes that you might not always have time to visit a doctor in-person, which is why they offer you Telemedicine through Teladoc–a service that allows you to have a medical evaluation online or by phone, for less than the cost of a regular office visit. You can even establish a virtual Primary Care Physician (PCP) using TelaDoc TeleHealth.

Through the Teladoc service, you can receive (non-emergency) medical advice from a doctor via telephone, or video from a computer, smartphone, or tablet. Doctors are available 24/7, 365 days a year, with wait times, on average, of only 10 minutes. So you can see (or hear) a doctor from just about anywhere.

One of the advantages of Teledoc is access to Behavioral Health and Dermatology resources. This will give you access to specialized services. New in , you can choose Teladoc for your virtual primary care physician.

While the service isn’t free other than the first general medical visit and other than preventive annual well visits/physicals, Aetna-covered members, including covered dependents, will only have to pay the in-network rate of $56 per use, pre-deductible being reached, then even less after reaching the annual deductible, and that can be a considerable savings over a standard office visit. The member cost would be a $25 copay for members enrolled in the Copay and Deductible medical plan.

There is a separate cost structure for Behavioral Health ($90-$215 per consult) and Dermatology ($85 per consult).

Aetna members can reach the service through teladoc.com/aetna, or by calling 1-855-Teladoc (835-2362). (Non-Aetna members will need to access Teladoc directly, and pay their current, posted rates.)

These out-of-pocket costs do count toward your deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums (the Copay plan will incur copays), and can be paid using your HSA debit card, Flexible Spending Account Flex Express Card from your General Purpose FSA account, or any other form of personal credit/debit card. (You don’t pay until after the claim is processed through Aetna and you receive your explanation of benefits, just like a regular doctor visit.)
